Natsume Yuujinchou: Ishi Okoshi to Ayashiki Raihousha

This film is built from two short stories, so it has the feel of a pair of quiet visits more than one big plot. In each, Natsume meets a youkai who needs something, and in each, the right response turns out to be patience and attention.

The mood is soothing, with a touch of unease around the edges. It is a supernatural slice of life where youkai are neighbors, sometimes puzzling and sometimes strange, and kindness is the usual way through. The drama lives in friendship and in the worry Natsume carries for the people close to him. It suits viewers who like shoujo-flavored stories with a male lead and a calm, patient pace, and anyone who wants fantasy that is gentle rather than epic.

It runs as a single film from Shuka, which suits a free evening after a long day. About eleven thousand people have it on their lists and rate it well, a small audience for something this well liked. It streams on Bilibili TV.
