Why it's a gem
This is the third season of the Railgun series, so it rewards people who already know Academy City and its cast. Newcomers should start earlier in the franchise. Returning viewers get a festival setting that puts a prestigious all-girls' middle school on the field and lets its students compete, with the Ace of Tokiwadai among them.
The genres are Action and Sci-Fi, and the tags point to a super power story with a big ensemble, a mostly female cast and a few tsundere flourishes. Expect a blend of school-day lightness and darker material. The season is described as going deeper into the shadowy side of the city, with terrorist attacks and ruthless underground projects, so the mood shifts as the festival goes on.
At 25 episodes from J.C.STAFF, it is a moderate commitment for fans of the earlier seasons. The community score is 81 out of 100, and more than 70,000 AniList users have it on a list, which suggests that people who stay with the franchise tend to like where it goes. If you enjoy urban fantasy with powers, clones and memory manipulation in the mix, this season fits. You can watch it on Crunchyroll and Bilibili TV.

Synopsis
The third season of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. The Daihasei Festival has begun, and that of course means that Tokiwadai Middle School—a prestigious all-girls' middle school—is competing too. Despite the participation of the "Ace of Tokiwadai," Mikoto Misaka, the other students who are participating are still putting their utmost effort into winning, no matter how impossible the feat may seem against her might. However, not all is fun and games. Due to the festival, Academy City opens to the outside world, and various factions have begun plotting ways to infiltrate the city. Misaka appears to be on their radar, and as the festival proceeds, people lurking from the shadows begin to emerge... Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T brings back the Tokiwadai Ace and her friends as they dive deeper into the dark side of Academy City. From terrorist attacks to ruthless underground projects, anything is possible in this city. (Source: MAL Rewrite)
